Drowning the Ipod
February 28, 2008 by Seasons
I got home last night to find my daughters not talking and their nanny trying to mediate.
According to my 12 years old, her sister “drowned’ her Ipod in the bathtub. Jazz( the 6 year old) reckoned that she was just washing it as a favour to her sister. The situation was actually comical as the versions of what happened came through with the Nanny eventually telling me what happened.
It turns out that, there is a teenage boy band called B5 that Jazz likes and She keeps borrowing her sisters Ipod to listen to their songs over and over- it appears I actually went and bought their CD for them..(cant recall as every time I travel, I get a list of CD’s to buy). Anyhow since the eldest one was doing her homework, the CD could not be played. Jazz sneaked into her sister room and took the Ipod and went to take a bath where the ‘accident’ happened. To mitigate her case and of course to show she meant well, she says she was ‘washing’ the Ipod.
The mediator( Not different from poor Mr Annan) had no authority to commit anything but I had to agree to replace the Ipod, reload the music and debit Jazz’s allowance. She will be paying for a long long time.
They are both annoyed that I found the entire episode funny.

That’s hilarious..kids can be so sweet!
You got mail!
You should have seen Jazz’s face! The ‘drowning’ phrase was very funny
LOL! the kids things….wait, the things kids do. i can’t blame you for laughing.
I hope they will see the humour when I get home today
you’re a generous daddy, to a fault! Ipod at 12?
I was set up… She meets the grades and I buy it..it was that or a cell phone and I choose the lesser evil. At least this way I can control what she listens to.
Sounds funny to be a daddy..can’t wait to be there…
It has its downs..but generally its great!
You got hilarious kids. Enjoy while they still around! Encourage jazz to be a writer, she is very creative!
Actually She is an actor. She was the star of her school play recently and has “banked” 6 figures from adverts
I have to give Jazz serious points for coming up with “washing the IPod”. Genius!
There is a lie in there somewhere but since I cant prove it..the only wrong I can point out is that She took the ipod without permission from her sister
LOL, yes, like Mrembo- Jazz has to be given points for the “washing the ipod”.
THis was funny.
makes me want to have kids. You make it sound fun!!!
The best decision I ever made. Every parent has their story
LOL @ the ‘drowning’ and the ‘washing’. Life would be boring without kids. Good for you!

It made me think of you:

Great story and quite inspiring too. I hope that when I get to his age and I write my memoirs on my relationship with my kids, it sound like that sans the rebellion.
am sure it was all so innocent at least as far as she is concerned. *sigh* i miss my Koffi Anan days between my nephews and nieces.
It was innocent. Gish, maybe its time to get your own.
Kids are too cute! I miss that innocence, once in a while
