Tusker Project fame: Boardroom politics

If you watched Project fame last night, then you already know that they put the best singer( Wendy) on probation because She did not ‘perform at her potential’ according to Judge Ian Mbugua. This is a load of bull crap in my opinion considering that they left Hemedi who everyone know cant sing in the Academy and safe.
Anyhow, this is not the subject of this post. The matter of the post is on how Tusker project fame is a farce due to Boardroom politics. I am reliably informed that the contestants who made it to the Academy were not the selection made in the auditions. When the team at Kenya Breweries was given the top 20 list of the best singers from the Auditions, they decided that it did not have regional and gender balance.
The brewers then decided that in view of the political situation in the country and to please the Ugandans and Tanzanians, they would call up poor singers over excellent ones. To create drama also, they decided to have equal balance on countries and gender. The results; a very dull show this time round.
We all know that reality television is not really real…but this time it was taken too far.

The show is over..finally.
Esther won and Wendy was runner-up followed by David.
Lets see how their careers pan out.
I admit I didn’t watch the show last night so I can’t comment on the performances but something about TPF2 doesn’t click with me yet! I haven’t been wowed by any of the participants but will give them benefit of doubt and wait a bit longer to see how they develop.
Am not surprised thats the work of EABL even when they offer money to sponsor you you have to give a kick back and bow to their rules. No bad feeling but am not watching TPF2 anytime soon.
Ian and his pretentious self are still there? how boring! Didnt watch it last time and I hope it kwishas before I get back!
I have been on leave which has allowed me to catch up on TPF2, clearly i shall waste no more time watching it. Give me Idols anyday at least its not so blatantly manufactured.
To be quite frank, what Tusker did seems quite sensible to me. After all when it’s all said and down, they are creating a program that will pull in and satisfy the most number of people and push product out there and didn’t create the show with the end goal of finding the greatest vocalist in history.
and whats up with gaetano and ian mbugua? i think what they did jana was shameless and so unprofessional.

And Ian is the most constructive guy there. Sometimes I think the tuskers give him insight and perspectives on the whole show - the guy even makes notes as the contestants are singing; impressive!!!

Isn’t obvious now that the contest is between Esther and Stephen. My favorite being Esther she comes as a full package. I thought David was good until he tried to do Billy Jean. I agree with Ian there’s only one MJ!!

Its very disappointing and disheartening to see someone very talented being voted out by the students coz of the 5M. The last contestant should be saved by the judges or if they are found to be too “hysterical” then they leave the public to vote in two guys. Ama? It was sad to lose Jacob coz of Lina. Teachers should desist from siding with students.David sang badly,Linah did and so was Victor.If we want music to grow let us accept criticism because it will make us grow.Look at the Ugandan musicians;they know how to play music instruments.Our Kenya lads will depend on computerised tunes.Comeon,the Kenyans at TPF are mediocre save for Wendyu who is trying but the three finalists are Esther who will eventually win,Stephen and Felly.Live the dream
Rozzy, I think you have issues… sort them out love… Those contestants are given lists of songs they should know their weaknesses and choose songs that can keep them out of competition and not popular songs.
Also whoever is ‘labelling her a blues should get a life! Esther knows what she’s got and hasn’t. She thus serves us of what we will enjoy from her (just like any good cook will do).
Anyhow, one man’s meat is another’s poison; but we should cut a little slack were its due. Patriotism is one thing, but we the Tusker consumers need to feel that the winner can make music that will blend well with our moods in the pub while taking the sleek stuff.
I think Esther, Jacob and David are the top three.

This weekend, it’d be my joy to see either of Hemedi, Linah and Victor leave that place.
Guys it is one thing to be loyal to a contestant but it is another to let the show run like a circus. I wonder how other countries are grading this show.
This gives me the feeling that genuinely talented people never enter this competitions becuase of that kind of attitude in EA! Just look at the Idols, Mor than half of the contestants are from Zimbabwe! Why? For the simple reason that we East Africans always idolise the luke warm participants just because of loyality! Kenya now only has Cynthia and Ug, Faycal and Nicollete (who may leave soon). But the Zims sent real talent to represent them not winkers!!!
Honestly speaking I have been watching projact 11 and to my suprise I note down mistakes judges make. In music you have to know what the key is all about, For me Magdaline, Jacob, Alice where good and they were on key. Easter honestly speaking is a boring performer whose voice is too high and can be compared to lina. My question is was tusker project looking for talent or drunkard, then they should not waste peoples talents. all judges are either off key lovers or they dont really understand music.
i was more than happy seeing hemedi go home,i don know wat spirit entered our crazy boardroom members to make such a wise decision to bring them back.but all in all i say amen and may the best win whom i strongly believe is my wendy.

TPF2 is the worst show you can never imagine that could have been happening in the world. The judges and the contestants have no quality neither do they have credentials to be in a reality show(not to mention the so called teachers/principal). TPF2 is fake n i better watch tahidi high than watching it.

TPF2 has teachers who have a bias on some students.I like Ian cause he is straight and puts them on pressure so that they can work hard.Ugandans are quite laid back when it comes to voting and thats how Jacob lost out otherwise he was the most talented guy.At this point,Chances are high that the winner will be someone who doesn’t deserve it.I wish the decision would be left for the judges.

I think voice is not all they are looking for.If that was the case,they wouldn’t be showing us what goes on in the house.The sole reason as to why they show us is to help us see the other side of the coin.To help us have a reflection of their hearts.Jacob had the least admired social life in the house.To begin with he is a loner.He was both arrogant and over confident of himself.He paid a high price for that but he could use that as a lesson.In future he should learn to adjust.He has a bright future in the music industry that is if he doesn’t lose focus.

TPF2…Am still waiting for the real show to start, 50 days after the students went into the academy!!! Honestly, we are yet to see SERIOUS competition. What we are experiencing right now is something between a Big Brother show and Bachelor! I though East Africa was better than this!!
the TPF2 is all about talent. the judges should do the work because they want to do (Ian is the best judge). we the public are not objective because we shall vote for people we want but not talent. we shall miss people like Easter, Stephen, and David and get boring people like Hemed, Linar, and Victor. I love the way Kenyans are being objective about the contestants in TPF. I wish a good singer wins not the one with more votes because those who are not talented have buddies who are voting a million times to see that they win. It has become a money issue. project fame two really lacks meaning and Iam confused on what is cooking behind the scenes since it seems to be mahifesting itself on the outside. The managers, directors or to whomever it concerns better straighten up the programme or it wil not be in existence for the next years. By the way idols have set the standards why don’t you borrow a leaf. And wendy she is just an African queen and deserves to win the price for me Easter is very monotonous and doesn’t know how to warm up to the audiences with all the voice and figure she needs to lighten up. Hie! my opinion don’t I have right.

For me either Ester or David was fine. A bit disappointed that David had to end up at 3rd position but what can I say, the voters have spoken.
An even more disturbing trivia is Victor!! What was he doing there? Should have been Steve competing in the finals today rather than Victor.

Wat can I say, this debate started on a Doing is a favour notch and I guess the owner of this blog knows better now. Kenyans thanks for not turning this into politics. I think this whole thing has been staged? How can the MC announce that voting lines have JUST been closed and in no sooner than one minute the PWC person has appeared with the results? when was tallying, printing, verifying and etc done?
